Adult League
Welcome to Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s Adult Recreation League (formerly AVSL.) Our league is an organized, safe, competitive, and friendly environment for adults who want to play soccer. The skill level ranges, and the teams are organized to keep the play as equal and fair as possible. If you are looking to get or keep in shape, make friends, and/or try something new, come check it out!
The recreation leagues are open to adult men and women looking for a fun way to get active. It provides players with a professional game atmosphere to get active with friends, learn or fine tune your soccer skills, enjoy some healthy competition, and most importantly HAVE FUN in a safe and welcoming environment. The program is designed for recreation soccer players of all abilities.
Our Adult League offers two divisions. The Champions Division welcomes athletes ages 18-34. The Legends Division welcomes ages 35+.
Champions Division: Ages 18-34
Legends Division: Ages 35+
Level: Welcome to all levels of skill, from beginner, to intermediate, to advanced players.
Location: Games are played on the turf field at the Santa Barbara City College in La Playa Stadium (136 Loma Alta Dr. Santa Barbara CA 93101).
Team Alignments: You can submit friend requests on the registration form. In an effort to create the best experience for all players, we cannot guarantee placement/friend requests. Rostering is decided by skill level and positional needs for all teams in the league.
Winter Dates:
- Sundays: January 19- June 8, 2025 (excluding some holidays).
- League is 17 weeks (approximately 1 game per week) with games played on Sundays between 8:30am-7:00pm.
- Games are two 40-minute halves with a 5 minute halftime.
- Registration OPEN NOW through January 3 (subject to late fee after this deadline)
Rates:
- Rates include all matches and a game-day jersey.
- $275 per player for the whole season.
- NO refunds.
- NO prorated fees for late registrants.
Format:
- Games are 11 v 11 with open substitutions.
- Max Roster= 25 players
Game & Division formats are tentative – we reserve the right to alter the format depending on the number of registrants and teams.

- Registration fee= $275
Uniforms: A team jersey top will be provided for the season.
Registration:
- Can register individually or with friend requests. Please mark your selection appropriately on the registration form.
- All players will be placed in their appropriate age division. (Division transfer requests are no longer accepted.)
Payments:
- All players must register and pay online (in full) prior to the start of the league.
- Rates do not include a 3% Credit Card processing fee for online payments.
Refund Policy or Cancellations:
- If you must cancel, please do so as early as possible.
- All payments are non-refundable unless Santa Barbara SC cancels the league.
- Benefits cannot be applied retroactively.
- Registration Insurance= Purchase registration insurance at checkout to be eligible for prorated credit in event of season ending injury. (Only valid for first half of season.)

Do you offer financial aid?
Santa Barbara SC has the capacity to provide some scholarship assistance for player’s with financial need. CLICK HERE for the scholarship application. Submit the completed application along with required supplemental tax documentation to the Director of Recreational Programs at bianca@santabarbarasc.org

What do I bring with me?
- Proper soccer cleats/ turf shoes.
- Shin guards
- Water bottle
- Note: Do NOT bring a soccer ball.
What if my birthday is during season, which division will I play in?
- You will be automatically placed in a division based on your age the first game day of season. Athletes age 34 and below are in Champions Division. Athletes age 35 and above are in Legends Division.
How do I get my jersey?
- Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the game.
- Check in with your team manager who will have a game day jersey top for you to wear. Return jersey to manager after game completion.
What is the refund and cancellation policy?
- All payments are non-refundable unless Santa Barbara SC cancels the league.
- We do not offer prorated fees. We will offer 50% off to late registrants at the halfway point of the season.
Can I request to be on the same team as my friend?
- We will do our best to accommodate friend requests.
- This is not a guarantee and we can’t always honor the request.
Can I change teams mid-season?
- No. You can request to join a different team next season and include a note on the registration form.
