Over the previous four weeks SBSC BU12 team played in six national tournament matches scoring 21 goals and not allowing a single goal against some of the top competition in the country. This win caps their greatest accomplishment to date having won the Coast Soccer League Cup Championship in December.  The team is currently ranked 3rd in the U.S. for their age group and ranked 1st in the Western Region by NationalSoccerRanking.com.

The Team now advances to the Far West Regional Tournament in Albuquerque, NM in June to compete against the National State Champions from each member state in Region IV which are: California North, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and Colorado.

 Team Roster:

Tim Heiduk, Peter Bermant, Lalo Delgado, Benji Garcia, Francisco Arroyo, Jacob Blacker, Shea Blackman, Lucky Puengrod, Tanner Mees,  Tony Andoyan, Raul Guerrero, Giovanny Acosta , Eric Contreras, Juan Pablo Alvarez, Carson VomSteeg.

Head Coach Rudy Ybarra, Assistant Coach Junior Ybarra.

When interviewed about the achievments of the team coach Rudy said, “ The team played solid on both sides of the ball.  Their transition from defense to offense was evident in that the team scored 21 goals and did not allow any goals in the tournament.  I would like to thank these players for their commitment and hard work in training sessions and games during season. Winning a National Cup Tournament takes time and commitment from all players, and this is a great group of young men who have a great work ethic and love playing soccer. More importantly, they are good young men who will do well in life”.

”I would also like to thank the parents for their support of these young student athletes for whom they have driven thousands of miles across California in support of their sons, our Team and the Club”.

 Cal South National Tournament Results:

 Group G play Round Robin:

SBSC vs. PQ Premier 4-0 / SBSC vs. ASC Express 3-0

Round of 32: SBSC vs. Real So Cal 6-0

Santa Barbara Girls U10 reach State cup Final!

News from Lloyd | March 11, 2010

SB Soccer Club GU10 Team State Cup Finalists

Despite its inauspicious start, losing 0-5 in game one of pool play, the Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s Under-10 girls team rallied, playing better with every game to almost run the table in CalSouth’s State Cup Governor’s tournament.  Winning their next six games in a row the team progressed from pool play through four elimination rounds to the tournament final game, played Saturday at the Lancaster National Soccer Complex.  Playing South Bay Force to a 0-0 tie in regulation time, SBSC’s long run was halted by a heart-breaking South Bay Force goal in the last minute of overtime.

PICT0279Anchored by solid goal keeping from Leila Riveroll and Sierra Palladino and by substantial defensive play by Sienna Wagner the team only gave up 3 goals in their six-game run.  Propelled offensively by Cate Clancy, Zoe Isse, and Allie Jones the team scored 15 goals in their tourney run.  The team, completed by Kelly Bickett, Carolina Capua, Addie Geritz-Furrer, Thea Nueshel, Megan Seabury, and Caylin Zimmerman, is coached by Marco Medina.  Next up for the team is SBSC’s home Spring Cup tournament March 20 & 21.  The GU10 team is looking to add players.  Interested players should contact Coach Medina (sbscmedina@gmail.com) or Billy Gallagher (billy@santabarbarasc.org).
